Biggest hassle with Alltel data service is the lack of roaming. If you leave the Alltel 1x areas, you have to use qnc at 14.4 for data. That's why I swithced my personal data account to VZW. My company is still using Alltel (which provides excellent voice coverage in our home area) which leads to data issues when people travel. _________________ Thomas M. Goethe |

| My guess is this rumor has some foundation. It makes sense. Consolidation is underway and ALLTELL is not a survivor. |

| I would be delighted to see a merger. I am currently in Ohio where I have an Alltel cell... I also use Verizon around the country with a Texas cell# I recently purchased the v620 card and unlimited National Access service. I am not receiving good verizon service at my location here thogh I am in a Verizon 1X area. My Alltel cell phone always has two bars more than Verizon but they do not offer 1X here. Living here five months where I have no land line phone available, I was hoping to get good web connection but am very unhappy with the Verizon signal. I have ordered the booster antenna in hopes of improving my ability to stay connected. |
