I have a need to demonstrate our TCP connected device anywhere in the US and some of those locations will not have IP. The device receives commands from our central server so routing TO the device is a must. My 'Googling' has gotten me this far. Any help with correcting my asumptions and answering my outstanding questions would be much appreciated

Assumption 1
The KR1 will allow me to hit the device by port mapping my device in the KR1 lan setup and using Dyndns to find the KR1 - eg Mydevice.dyndns.org:<myport#>

Assumption 2
Little data will be consumed by just plugging the device and each command sent to the device will start a 'connection' that will end shortly after the last packet is delivered to the device.

Assumption 3
The Kyocera card is the best card to get with this device

Assumption 4
Either Verizon or Sprint will work - just pick the best nationwide coverage and rate plan

Assumption 5
In voice-only coverage areas the signal will drop to near dialup speeds but still work ( which is fine since I am happy with 9600 bps)

Q 1 What is the overhead in a transaction. If I send 20 x 1k commands to my device in a day - how much total plan data might that consume? It is bound to be more than 20k - but how much?

Q2 do either carriers offer low usage plans like Cingular.

Q3 - How often will this just work? -ie if I shipped my device to anytown USA with a note saying plug into AC and call me - what are the chances that I will be able to "see" my device.

Thanks

Bill
