how to detect if connected via cellular

Hello,

I am developing an appilcation and I want to be able to detect if the user is connected via a cellular data connection (as opposed to, say, Wi-Fi). I am developing for Windows Mobile and, later, Palm OS.

Is there a way to do this? The only idea I had was to check the IP address and see if it falls within a known range of cellular IP addresses (which would obviously be different per carrier, and Sprint and Verizon are most of what I'm worried about). Is this possible? Is it well known what the IP address ranges are for Sprint, Verizon and others? Or is there some other way to do what I want?
