The current version of the Kyocera KR1 firmware (RK1006) does not recognize the Franklin CDU-550 USB EVDO Modem.

It doesn't work - don't waste your time/$$ trying

Hey Kyocera, contact us offline - we would love to get this combination working, probably not too hard to add to the next firmware for the KR1.

If and when this changes in a future version of the KR1 firmware, it will be posted to this thread.

So the KR1 is not compatible, but is there any router that has been confirmed to work with the Franklin modem to allow users to create a wireless LAN?

It would be nice if there were a mobile router (ALA KR1) that was USB-bus-powered, thus being TRULY mobile (unlike the KR1, which needs either an A/C supply or auto adapter).

USB phone support is a feature unique to the KR1.

Suppose you could hand build a Stompbox, add a USB PC card and then write some modules that allow the CDU-550 to work (or tweeze Franklin's available Linux drivers for use on the Stompbox).

Yet by the time you finish that project Kyocera may drop a firmware with USB support for the CDU-550. Or not. :]
