Has anybody gotten remote management to work on the KR1? I can't get it to work. I enable it, set the IP and subnet, and port, but when I try to browse to my KR1's WAN IP address (and remote management port) from the authorized computer on the internet, I get the Internet explorer page that says "The page cannot be displayed." At the bottom, it says "Cannot find server or DNS Error."

I have Verizon service with the dreaded PC5470 card and the new RK1006 firmware. Does Verizon block all the ports (80, 88, 1080, 8080) on which Remote management can operate?

Also, in specifying the permissible remote management address (on the Tools > Admin menu), the "Help" button says you can enter * to allow all IP addresses, but it won't actually let you do this. Anybody know a workaround?

Also, I can't ping through to the KR1 from an external machine on the Internet. I get no response. The KR1 firewall appears to be preconfigured to allow a ping: "Allow to Ping WAN port" is a permanent rule that is turned on. Again, could this be a Verizon blocking issue?

TIA,
jstanmeyer

hmmmmmmm do you think this could be a router-sepecific problem?

Could you try pinging through to my KR1 and just let me know what you get? Currently it is 70.195.100.111

Can you get the asterix to work in specifying the remote management IP? What are you using for subnet: 255.255.255.255?

Thanks!

This question came in earlier. Usually, this is due to the user attempting to use the remote management feature on a non-HTTP port. For example, if you use port 8080 and your router's IP address is 1.2.3.4, typing 1.2.3.4:8080 into your browser's address bar will result in the Page Cannot Be Displayed error.

This is because you did prepend http:// to the entry. Only port 80 responds as HTTP; any other port must have http:// attached to it so that the browser knows you're trying to initiate an HTTP connection on a different port. To get this to work, you'd need http://1.2.3.4:8080.

The KR1 online help for the Remote Management feature says “If the IP address is set to *, this allows all Internet IP addresses to access the KR1”. It does not say anything about what the subnet mask should be set to.

But when I try entering * for the IP, I get an “invalid IP address” error. How do I configure the KR1 so it can be remotely managed from any IP? Leaving the default 0.0.0.0 does not seem to work either.

Question Confused Question Sad Question

I have a similar issue. I think is because the service provider has an incoming filter block. I asked them but they do not know anything about it or gave me any useful info.

I'm setting up a VNC(remote access) on my laptop that is currently using a Sprint mobile broadband card PX500. I did several attemp to connect to the laptop but fail. I attempt to connect using the mobile broadband card wan ip but FAILED. I could NOT even ping the mobile broadband card's wan ip from outside the internet.

Anyone know if there is a incomming filter?
Can anyone ping there broadband card's wan ip?
