Kyocera KR2

A way to do bluetooth, both phones (so the phone could be near a window or other high signal area), and serial (a series of TCP and/or UDP ports so you could see a GPS or other device).

WAN with bonding, failover, or even some configuration option so I could connect it to a cablemodem (like the Cradlepoint).

Dyndns support again (I got it working properly on the KR1).

The KR2 is not expected to ship until 1st quarter 2008, and pricing has not been finalized, but could be in the $300 range.

Kyocera Dude: My request would be to enable multiple cards and load balancing, like the high-end Cradlepoint does. This would allow power-users to both get more throughput with multiple users and also decrease downtime due to periodic drops.

Since the KR2 is probably in final configuration, shouldn't this wish list be for the KR3?

KR2 will have a configurable failover feature. In this way, you can specify what interface is primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary. The average use case will likely be wired WAN to EVDO (ExpressCard, PCMCIA, or USB) but it can also bet setup to failover from ExpressCard to PCMCIA or any other combination thereof.

There will likely be a seven to ten second delay after primary device failure to allow for dialing the connection on the secondary device and authentication but overall that doesn't really seem that bad for most applications in which KR2 can be used. I suppose it's up to your specific implementation. Smile

Well, Thought I had found a way to make mine work faster.At Alltel, They have more than one card. and they have the PC5750 and a Franklin USB. Tryed that and Nope, it Will not work soo The only thing that will work with any success is the KPC650. They said since they sold that KR-1 router to me just a couple of months ago they will trade my KR1 for the KR2 straight across!! Damn nice of them!!!!! And I don't have to worry about the two year commentment till the KR2 and then I can use whichever card I want!! I was beginning to wonder if they would back up what they sell, They do!! I would say that they are trying to keep up with 3G!!!!

Unfortunately, that won't do it for me. Beter than a single connection, but the need to dial up the second one (the 7 second delay) means losing connections to chat programs, stock quote streaming, and the like. I'm looking for something that either load balances or load bonds (either is fine), whereby the connection is constant unless both cards are dropped at the same time. Any routers other than the high-end TopGlobal that can do this? (The TG cant handle USB cards, so no go there for me.)
