As any of you try the latest KR1 firmware for VPN pass-through capabilities, please add your experiences here.
Please include:
Platform (Windows, Mac OS, Linux, etc)
VPN Client software used
VPN type (IPSec, L2TP, PPTP, etc)
Protocol type (UDP/TCP)
Whether you tried and were successful with multiple pass-throughs. |

Did a quick test on a MacBook Pro using Internet Connect to VPN into an XServe running Mac OS X 10.4.7. It works without a problem.
On XServe we are using PPTP, allowing 40-bit in addition to 128-bit encrption.
Pretty plain stuff.
FYI, this also worked in RK1002. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

New firmware (1006)
Windows XP Pro SP2
Watchguard VPN client (IPSEC, HMAC)
Client makes initial connection fine, but no traffic.
I tried opening ports for IPSEC and other protocols, but nothing so far.
I'm going to keep hammering at it.
I think the key is either in "Firewall Rules" or "Applications" under "Advanced". |

Latest FW - 1006
Dell Latitude D600
XP Pro SP2
Cisco VPN Client - 4.8.01.0300
Client makes a successful connection and is configured properly (pulls proper IP address from pool, DNS servers..etc) however no traffic makes it back into my machine (verified via statistics window in VPN client). Using a Kyocera KPC650 card (Verizon) in my KR-1. Using this card in my laptop with VPN works fine. Definitely something in the router. Oddly enough when I called Kyocera - 800.349.4478 and spoke with Paul he said he didn't know anything else to tell me and that it was likely either a Verizon or Cisco issue which I feel is false.
***EDIT***
I setup my firewall (PIX) to allow incoming VPN connections over TCP (simultaneously with existing UDP connections and nothing broke) on port 10000 and changed my VPN client to connect over TCP and low and behold I got right in. |
