EVDO used to stop at Barrington, Illinois, and now goes out through Cary and Crystal Lake. I will drive around and post additional EVDO areas in the area soon. The EVDO towers just went live today (May 26, 2005). So, it looks like the Chicago area is part of the expanded Phase 4 Verizon EVDO rollout that is suppose to be completed at the end of May. As you can see from the additional coverage posts, this is happening in lots of areas. I am guessing there will be an 'official' Verizon EVDO announcement on or around June 1, 2005.

Anyone from the Chicago area, have any additional areas that are now getting EVDO that were not getting EVDO a few days ago??

So here are am, now that I have discovered a new EVDO tower, I have decided to do some benchmarks. Due to the fact, this tower is brand new and not many (if anyone) is using it, below are the benchmarks I achieved:

A PC 5220 card, 4 bars, no external antenna, no signal amplifier, no venturi.

That is the fastest that I have ever seen with EVDO.

EVDO ROCKS!
