Interested in PPC6700, but don't want to carry two phones in order not to miss a phone call while streaming a radio station with WMP10 or while surfing the net.

Can the phone allow a phone call to bust through and ring, thus cutting off the internet connection? In my case, it would be preferable to break off the internet in the case of a call.

Thanks.

Yes, the call will put the data connection on hold as soon as you hang up it will resume.

More specifically, while using data the phone will ring and you'll have the option to answer it or ignore, allowing it to go to voice mail. If you answer, data stops and then resumes when you hang up.

There are a couple Sprint phones rumored to be coming later this year that would allow voice on the iDen network while doing data on the CDMA network at the same time, but I don't know of PDA phones coming that would allow that.

Thanks very much for the info. That is a huge boon compared to phones that will only put a call to voice mail, without giving the opportunity of getting off the net to take the call. Most I've heard about to date only send the caller to voice mail.

One of my biggest interests of this technology is rarely written about on any discussion. It is the ability to listen to any of thousands of internet radio stations while driving down the road.

Got to get my "traffic and weather together on the 8's" fix from WCBS 880 New York City while I'm on the road (a few thousand miles away)'Wink'
Use of windows Media player on the cell phone is a great toy. This may merit its own thread, however.

When using data on a 1xRTT connection, most calls *will* go in to voicemail, but on an EVDO connection, they will usually come through pausing the internet connection as indicated in the previous post.

If using a Sprint PPC6700 made after 4/1/06 you must install a ROM update which was released in the last month. New phones won't have it and you can get it at UTStarcom's site. It wipes the PPC so do the update, first Wink.

pdaphonehome.com is the place to learn about the 6700 in-depth

Shortly after getting my XV-6700, my car was broken into and the stereo was stolen. This was back in October. I needed my traffic reports, and was too busy/lazy to go buy a new radio, so I set up my phone to listen to it. Using a hands-free headset, I am able to listen to virtually any radio station that streams its signal. I did find that it was usually a pain to acquire the actual URL for the radio station (lots of digging through View Source), and had to learn how to create .WSX files (Windows Media Player's playlist format) to be able to save my station list, but it is now working great! There are a few dead areas on my commute where I lose the signal, but most times, when i get in the clear again, the station picks right back up.

My only complaint curerntly is that it seems Voice Command does not look for a match in the Playlist section of the Media Library, so I cannot sat "Play KNAC" or whatever to get to the station.
