Hi,

When the external antenna is attached to the evdo card (e.g., Kyocera kpc650), does the card stop transmitting/receiving through the built-in "internal" (swivelling) antenna? Or do both stay active?

Does anyone know?

When you connect to the rf out port on a card or handset . The antenna on the card or handset no longer functions . All RF is channelled though the device attached to the RF out port

I did a test and when plugging in an external connector (without an antenna, just a cable), the signal drops considerable or completely.

I tried with 3 different cards with the same results.

So, to confirm what MaximumSignal said, yes, the built-in antenna is not used when you plug in an external one.
