I tried to install a Sprint Aircard 580 on a Windows Server 2003 and the installation hangs up at the point it reaches two Data Interfaces. Tried all kinds of drivers but nothing worked.

The installation program is not completing the install with the necessary drivers.

The fix: you must extract all the files from Sprint's .MSI installation file. I downloaded a free utility called Lessmsierables-20050611.zip by searching for an MSI extractor. It will allow you to right click the MSI file and extract all of the files to a folder.

After extracting all of the files, I inserted my Aircard 580 and the Data Interface box came up again. Point the driver installation to the folder you extracted and presto, it will install both of the Data Interface drivers (which are Aircard 580 drivers)!

After that, the Aircard 580 worked perfectly.

Hopefully this will help anyone who has been getting errors installing their Aircard. Basically, you almost have to force the remaining part of the installation. This may work on other cards or problems.

By the way, I used to have Windows XP on the same machine and the Aircard worked fine, so it was definitely an issue with the Windows Server 2003.
