Well, quasi-failure. The card and service works fine when launched from Network Conections.

Sprint Connection Manager opens but doesn't "see" the card under normal circumstances. Sometimes, when Connection Manager is closed out as a non-responsive program via Ctrl-Alt-Del it then opens and functions normally. Once functioning correctly, it will not work again when the computer is subsequently shut down and re-started.

I've uninstalled and re-installed the sofware with no change in results. Sprint tech support couldn't offer a fix. The exact same card and software works flawlessly on my wife's Thinkpad. Go figure.

I'm planing on living without the Connection Manager, as I don't think I'm losing anything.

Update: At the tech's suggestion, I tried another card. Results are even worse. Couldn't even register the card, so the dial up connection I created doesn't work, either. Ordered the Sierra which, while older, reportedly has fewer compatibility issues. I'm a little concerned because the jack for my booster antenna is supposed to be less robust than the one on the S620.
