| I am using the SprintPCSVision modem script but can never obtain faster than 30k downloads. Connecting via Bluetooth or USB. Is there another script I should be using. I tried turning off error correction and modem compression in the Modem panel of Network and unchecked ppp echo packets and tcp header compression in PPP options tab. I'm alone in the tall grass here. |

Are you talking 30Kbits/sec or 30Kbytes/sec?
If bits, do you live in an EVDO area and getting an EVDO signal? |

| Sorry 30kbytes/sec. I am in zip code 85226 in AZ. I also tried a few other locations where I could verify 4 bars of signal |

From what I've heard, speed can depend on the number of connections a particular cell tower has connected to it. Also, from what I've heard, tethering with a phone is not as fast as with a dedicated data card. I'm not sure if Sprint somehow "throttles" the PAM connections in order to get people to buy a data card (with a higher monthly service charge).
That said, I believe the 240kbps connection (or 30 kilobytes per second) you have is within the "normal" range. I think it can vary from 200kbps to 700kbps. My brother used his Treo 700p for Sprint tethering a few weeks ago and reported around the same speed here in Las Vegas. |
