I have a Toshiba Portege R100 and a Verizon (Novatel) V620 card. When I first bought the card a year ago my computer couldn't install it - it never recognized the card - things stalled out at the Access Manage page that says "waiting for card to be inserted". After much to-ing and fro-ing with the Verizon folk someone directed me to the Microsoft Update Website to download the Novatel 620 driver which fixed the issue. More recently I had to reformat my drive and reload Windows etc. etc. and my card actually installed fine even without downloading the updated drivers. Then I had a PCMCIA slot failure and the PCMCIA slot had to be replaced on the computer. Following this I haven't been able to get the machine to recognize the card. I've tried several combinations of the following: reformatted drive and reloaded Windows XP (SP1) several times, updated to SP2, used the original Verizon install disc, downloaded the updated VZ Access manager from the Verizon website (after unistalling the original VZ Access manager) - the Novtael drivers are no longer available on Microsoft update but according to Verizon they're nested in the latest VZ Access Manager on their website. Other devices work fine in the PCMCIA slot, and the Verizon card works fine in another computer.

I forgot to ask in my original posting but if anyone knows how to fix the problem please post the solution here. I've been dead in the water for a couple of weeks now, the Verizon folk are out of ideas (though they are sending me a card by some other manufacturer to try) and Novatel isn't responding to the Verizon Level 2 tech's problem card. (PS - although Verizon hasn't managed to fix the problem, the accessibility of their tech support is quite outstanding.)
