|

I have seen similar postings with like equipment, but no follow up or resolution.
I have a Dell D510 that freezes the pc when the card is inserted into the pcmcia slot - the pc resumes functionality once the card is removed. The S620 has been tested in Latitude C series laptops and works fine. I have successfully connected the PC-5740 and AC580 on the D510 without problem.
Is the S620 simply not compatible with the D510 or is there a known fix (driver update or other) that I have not located? |

Chances are, its the 620. The 620 is known to not work well with many laptops. Your best bet is the 580. That is the next best card. It is too bad, but one of those things. _________________

There are a couple other noted failures for the D510 on the EVDO forums: http://www.evdoforums.com/about1660.html
http://www.evdoforums.com/about1714.html
There's a handful of other Dell models that do not get along with newer cards, notably the KPC650 and S or V620. Otherwise the S620 isn't any more prone to failure than other cards.
The work-around is to use the Sierra Wireless AC580. Only downside is the external antenna cable connectors that fit into that card's external antenna port have a high failure rate.
You might try downloading/installing the newest version of Sprint PCS Connection Manager. |

Problem solved. The S620 is a snug-fit in the D510 pcmcia slot. When the S620 was initially inserted into the D510, the pins on the far right side of the slot were slightly offset on the S620 holes ... the pins in the slot created two new puncture holes a cm below the proper card holes. This problem was evident when the S620 was re-inserted into a known working Dell laptop, and the S620 locked up the pc in the same manner as the D510.
A replacement S620 was tested in the D510 - carefully ensuring that the card was properly inserted into the slot - the card was immediatey recognized and successfully connected. |
