Yes, I would be concerned. Starting June 1st, Sprint allowed domestic roaming in Canada and Mexico. I dont remember the rate, and I am unable to find the page on Sprints website that speaks about it (I cannot stand the Sprint website, it is impossible to find ANYTHING). If I find it, I will post the link. I would be very careful while you are roaming! _________________

| Is there a warning of some sort to let you know that you are roaming? |

Yes, it is called roam guard, and it is in the card settings under Roaming. You can set the card to Sprint only, roaming (with roam guard), or roaming only. For domestic roaming (here in the US), it should be included, for example when the Alltel roaming agreemtn goes into affect; however, I am not 100% certain. When outside the US, there are definitely roaming charges. _________________

Well, after much searching the website I came up with .002 per KB.
Good thing I can expense it...i think I burned up 10MBs
But never the less...it was hella cool:)
And your so right...the sprint website is just about impossible to navigate.

Nah, I was only there for a few hours...however this was my IP when I was there.
68.240.70.84
I guess you could do a visual traceroute? I will be sure to run one the next time I am there.
I am going to call Sprint and play dumb...maybe I won't get nailed for the charges...but oh well if I do. It was worth it...kinda cool.
Thanks for the info!

Playing dumb should work. Just tell them you were in Mexico, turned your computer on, forgot your card was plugged in, and it connected. Tell them it didnt say anything about roaming charges or that you were actually roaming. Depending on the rep. you may get away with it. It you only transfered a few megabytes, the most it will be is around $5 extra or so. You might as well just pay it at that point. Were you on EVDO? I think its funny that almsot all of Mexico (major cities), are covered in EVDO. Go figure. _________________

Yeah, I was on EVDO ... or 1X...but I used the EVDO.
I am really happy I can do this in Mexico though. Now that summer is here a big problem was this.
We would be sitting on some cargo ramp NO WHERE near a weather computer. So , we have no good way of getting updated weather/radar before we take off. So, this could be very usful. And then I could expense it:)

| I just spoke with a Sprint rep and was very upfront about how I wanted to use the service. I mentioned that I was taking a trip to Mexcio City and wanted to add International Roaming for just one week. The rep informed me that the $99.99 monthly plan is considered an attachment and could be added or removed at will. So I would sign up for the plan, test it out for my one week trip, and then remove it when I returned. The monthly attachment rate would be pro rated and the difference reflected in my next bill. I will definitely have to try this out. |

Maybe make sure you have that in writing or something because you know these people will say anything to sell you something including a new 2 yr agreement or something to that nature. Maybe they can fax or email you that you can simply take it off when you get back.
Hopefully you'll like it and maybe keep it longer. Enjoy your trip. |

From what I understand, that $99.99 monthly plan includes international roaming in Mexico and Canada. I'm sure you are still able to use your aircard on your $60 unlimited plan but you would incur international charges.
I agree with AirFlow. If your trips down south of the border are occasional and not very long stays, it might be better to stick with your $60 plan. If you make rate plan changes, they will renew your contract for a year or two. The only time they don't renew your contract is if you add on services like text messaging or road side assistance.
