A pretty basic question.
I've been powering down the router when not using it. Is this necessary? Anyone leaving it on 24/7, and any adverse consequences for doing so?
Otherwise: at home I'm about 2 miles inside a Verizon National Access area, and the booster antenna makes a huge difference. Before I got it, I was dropping connections every 10 minutes. Now, no drops at all. |

| Much like any computer, KR1 will run smoother when it is restarted regularly. That being said, I've had one running with a KPC650 on my desk for over two weeks without a hiccup. |

Since there's no power switch, I've found it convenient to plug it into an extension cord that has a remote control to turn it on and off from across the room.... Handy for rebooting from a distance....

All computer equipment should be on a ups backup so that when the power goes off, it will keep running and can be turned off when convenient. The UPS will also prevent spikes from sudden gigantic bursts of power when the blackout is over. The UPS device usually has a power switch which can be safely used. I use and recommend APS ups devices. For the KR-1 I would guess the smallest rated one will suffice. |
