Does anyone on Sprint have the Phone-As-Modem (PAM) option AND have either an Employee Discount (thru their place of employment) and/or other discount(s)?
On your bill, does it clearly show the EVDO PAM as being discounted by one or both discounts? |

I am asking b/c I have gotten ALL variations of how this works from diff reps. One says NVP discount only but not the other discount. One said the other discount, not NVP. One says both applies. The other says NO discounts on PAM, periond (like for the data cards). One other variation is the $39.99 price goes to $49.99 for those w/ company discounts.
It's been so frustrating trying to nail down the aswer as price is an important buying decision for me. I'd hate to get in on a 2-yr contract then find out PAM is not discounted as originall thought. |

I've been dealing with this same issue, as well.
I was required to sign up for a new plan because I had to remove a 2nd phone from service, thus requiring a new contract. I currently have an older "non-Power-Vision" phone with the $15/month unlimited PCS Vision Pictures Pack and was curious how much a new EVDO phone and PAM service would cost.
Since I had been a long time Sprint customer, I was told that I could get a 15% loyalty discount, as well as a 24% corporate discount, due to the entity I work for. I was told that these discounts would stack and would apply to the entire bill (except taxes and government surcharges). The rep told me that Sprint was running a special PAM deal and I could get unlimited PAM for $39.99, instead of $49.99.
After calling back to verify that the discounts would stack and also apply to PAM (I wanted to be certain), I got conflicting information. Some reps said the discounts apply to the total bill and others, including a supervisor, told me the discounts would not apply to PAM.
Well, rather than take one rep's word, I decided to make sure that both discounts appear on my bill before buying a new phone and being forced to pay the higher Power Vision fees.
It's been 3 months and they STILL haven't gotten my bill right (I've had to call back and get my bill credited each month). Two discounts appear on my statements...one says "PCS Monthly Discount" (I assume this is the customer loyalty discount) and the other says "Nationwide Volume Program Discount" (I assume this is the corporate discount). Both discounts (which do not reference any percentages) have been incorrect (much lower than the discounts I had been told). The positive thing is that both discounts stack and apply to the entire bill, so I'm hopeful this will be the same when the bill is corrected.
I spoke to a rep two weeks ago and she told me that my account showed the discounts, but the previous reps applied the discounts incorrectly (supposedly, I was supposed to have something emailed to me by Sprint to verify my employment). She said they would verify my employment over the course of the next 60 days and the discount would not take effect until then.
Well, I'm hopeful they get my account straightened out. It's really been a billing nightmare and I'm stuck in limbo, not knowing whether to buy the new PV phone or stick with my old one (I'll be going on vacation in August and I would love to use the PAM service while I'm away).
My next bill is due 6/15. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I have the Samsung A900 and I am pretty sure when I registered my account for my employee plan they discounted everything, including the EVDO service, per the standard discount for our account. _________________ Victor |

Do you recall if the discount appears as a separate line item on the bill in addition to your standard company discount amount? |

| Hey, 15th is rolling around soon. Waiting eagerly for you input before getting PAM (or not).
BTW, when u get your bill, does the PAM discount get deducted in the Promotional Credits section of the bill (courtesy discount applied) AND
the Other Credits and Adjustments section of the bill (NVP discount applied) ? |

Well, I got my bill last night and, as usual, it's WRONG.
The last guy I spoke with in their business accounts department said I "should" be seeing a correct bill this month. They got the 15% customer loyalty discount correct but, as usual, the 24% company discount is incorrect.
Here is the breakdown:
400 minutes anytime $35.99
Equipment protection $6.00
Vision attachable plan $39.99
----------
Total $81.98
Minus other credits and adjustments
PCS Monthly Discount (15%) $12.30
Nationwide Volume Program Discount (?%) $5.35
----------
Credits $17.65
Plus taxes and surcharges $1.93
BILL TOTAL $66.26
So, I have no idea what the hell they are doing. They appear to have the PCS Monthly Discount (15%) correct. But, the $5.35 NVP discount isn't 24% of anything.
The bill should be $81.98 - $31.98 (15% and 24% stacking discounts) + $1.93 = $51.93
This is frustrating as hell. I'm going on vacation at the end of August and I want to have this whole nightmare resolved before then. I'm tired of calling Sprint customer support. |

| I have been with Sprint since 97 and I have never heard of the Customer Loyalty Discount. How do I go about getting it? How do you qualify? I am getting the NVP National Volume Pricing discount. I just assumed I couldnt get an additional discount. |

1) it looks like the PAM has loyalty discount applied - GREAT!
2) TOO bad they f&*&$% up your NVP, cause this is the 2nd part of what I really wanted to see - whether NVP applies to PAM charge.
Have you EVER had your NVP work correctly? It is really NOT that hard to setup
3) Correction, on my bills loyalty and NVP do NOT stack. Tney also appear in different sections of bill. My loyalty appers under Promotional Credits and apply to MRC. My NVP appears under Other Credits & Adjustments. What happens is loyalty discount applies first...NVP applies to the remaining amount. In your case, both yours apply to Other Credits and Adjustments? Crap, without your NVP being correct, no way to really tell how yours work. |

Well, I called up and spoke with a lady in "retentions". I told her I was considering cancelling my plan and wanted to know if I would have to pay a cancellation fee, since I no longer have a Sprint-subsidized phone. She avoided that question and, instead, proceeded to try to fix the problem.
She gave me the same line about how it could take up to 60 days for the discount to be processed...yadda, yadda, yadda. She told me that she could apply a 10% discount until my next bill arrives and also a $10.60 "courtesy credit" to make up the difference. She also said she would apply a $50 service credit on my next bill to make up for the inconvenience.
So, again, I asked her if I would have to pay an early termination fee if the bill is STILL not correct on my next statement and she said she would have them waive that if it comes down to it.
So, although the problem wasn't fixed, my bill was being reduced down to the amount which the original amount that the original guy told me. Plus, she was giving me $50 off my next bill.
Well, I hung up with her and forgot to get the exact amount owed for this billing cycle so I called back their business department and asked for retentions.
The business department lady I spoke to wanted to see if she could help me, instead. So, I explained the whole thing to her. While reviewing my account, she tells me that she believes the retentions lady had entered my $50 credit for next month's bill incorrectly. She had it being split up over the next 24 months (why does this not surprise me? Sprint ineptitude!!! From retentions, no less!!!).
She said she would fix that and checked with some coworkers and her supervisor regarding my 24% employee discount. Finally, she tells me that my employee discount should actually be 15%, and not 24%. So, she puts me on hold for a while. She says that her supervisor is going to fax corporate and, hopefully, get back to me by Wednesday of next week (6/21).
Any way you slice it, the NVP discount on my bill is still incorrect. It's not 15% or 24% of anything. She realized this was an error.
So, to double check on this quickly-diminishing discount, I decided to call up the Sprint rep for the organization I work for. She tells me that the employee discount is, indeed, only 15%. She says that the discount Sprint gives my organization is 24%, but that is only on bills paid for by the organization. I ask her if the 15% employee discount would apply to my entire bill and she says "yes". I ask her if that includeds PAM as an add-on and she says "yes". I verify that the 15% employee discount would apply to the entire bill and she says "yes". Then, I ask her if the 15% employee discount stacks with my 15% PCS Monthly Discount (customer loyalty) and she tells me NO!!!!!!! So, I've gone from 39% to 15%...even though the original guy told me 39% (15% + 24%) off the ENTIRE BILL!!!!!!!
I'm tired of getting the run around. It seems that no one at Sprint knows what is going on. At least if I cancel my service, I won't have to pay an early termination fee. But, as far as PAM, I don't have many options. Verizon, Cingular, and T-Mobile all want ridiculous prices for PAM.
Sprint should come out with $25 Unlimited Power Vision (web browsing, etc. WITHIN phone) with $5/day per use unlimited tethering option. Now, that's something I would pay for. |

Ok, its time to be practical. Everyone (myself included) gripes about the wrong info the carriers give out more often than not. There really is only one solution .. GET IT IN WRITING. If they won't give it in writing then its a lie, walk away. End of story. If you get it in writing then you have proof and can force the idiots to live up to the representations of their employee/agent (otherwise its called fraud). _________________ Did you ever stop to think .... and then forgot to start again? |
