According to Kyocera, there is a problem with the PC5220 card and the KR1. Here is the official word from Kyocera:

Quote:
The select few reports of repeated connection drops we have received, we have traced to the use of the UT5220 PC Card with the KR1 Mobile Router. This is a discontinued card with known RF leakage issues. For this reason, we do not support this card (i.e., it is not shown in our documentation or on the web page list of compatible cards

However, if you disable WiFi and use Ethernet on the KR1, everything works fine.

We have had a few reports of PC5220 users who have had many WiFI errors and the inability to connect via WiFi. However, we have also had many PC5220 users who have had no problems at all. Since, Kyocera will not replace a router with issues if you have a PC5220, at this time, we are not recommending PC5220 users use the KR1 with the PC5220.

The Top Global Routers do not have any problems with the PC5220 card and this is the router that we recommend for PC5220 users.

After upgrading to RK1006, we are still getting many WiFi Reset Errors when you insert the PC5220 (we don't get these with other cards):
