|
|
Here is my setup. It's currently being tether ot my Treo 700W. but I am expecting to get my KPC650 card in a few days to replace the treo + usb cable
The card slot on my laptop is at the bottom left.
I'm just wondering if there's a EVDO antenna that I is small and short enough to be mounted inside my suitcase where I drew the red circle. (link would be appreciated too)
I would like everything self contained inside the suitecase because I move around alot.

The ARC Freedom Antenna will easily fit where you want it and does a fine job if signal conditions are not extremely demanding. _________________ Did you ever stop to think .... and then forgot to start again? |

What is the brand of your case? Looks really nice and sturdy. I have a Dell Inspiron 600m that I carry around all the time and my little Case Logic bag (that is really meant for macs) is starting to rip and fall apart. _________________ Dell Inspiron 600m w/ Sprint Merlin S620 |

it's from VanGuard. I got it at staples a year ago for I think $49.
but I frequently see it online on sale for around $17
not sure if the 600M will fit tho. |

Is your goal to have the antenna permanently mounted in the brief case or to be able to pull it out and use it in a vehicle or desktop application?
There is a 1 inch by 4 inch antenna available from Wilson that may work also.

I would not recommend a magnetic mount as all magnetic mount antennas require a ground plane to function properly. _________________ http://www.wpsantennas.com |

Just got my Boostert Antenna + KPC650 the other day and had it wired to my suite case. At first, I tried using electrical tape to tape it to my case but the material is cloth and it won't stick. Neither did clear packing tape
That was all I had at the time and I wanted to have it up and running the next day for the trading day and live field test.
I though maybe if I cut out the outer matterial, the subsurface would be metal and the tape will stick.. but there was a layer of paper and then a thin layer of wood which the tapes don't stick well. so I came out with the idea of using paper clip to just keep it place. It worked but it looks Fugly so I use electrical tape to cover it and make the color more uniform but it is still fugly with the back showing wood instead of all black.
The antenna cable is guided to the back and then excessive cables is laid under the laptop. I wonder if it will reduce some reception
high resolution picture here:

I would have to say the suite case kill the reception by 200kbps.
(as I test the speed with the laptop out side the case and it was faster)
but the booster antenna once connected gives me back the 200kbps loss (money well spent I guess as it works as advertised)
I think I screwed up by cutting into the case in order to fit the antenna, making it look flugly
Do anyone know of any method. that will allow me to pernamently stick the antenna to the back cloth of the case?
I can always get another case if necessary since they are like $17 online on sale. |

the cloth in the back is too fine/smooth for velcro to stick onto.
I'm thinking if there are any type of glue that will do the job..
crazyglue? |

Use Goop [get it just about anywhere] to glue the velcro to both the case and antenna. _________________ Be Happy |
