Hi I was just wondering, what is the typical latency you all are experiencing using EVDO, with Sprint and Verizon? I was just wondering how bad this is (i.e. will I ping 150ms+ to yahoo.com in san francisco/ los angeles?)

Hi PK, I'm currently using a S620 on Sprint around the Los Angeles Area.

Although I'm a user doing about 2-3GB a day, I don't do anything latency dependent or something intensive that requires low latency.

Here are some results of my pinging: Hope this helps.

The typical best latency I've seen is about 150ms with EVDO Rev 0. The range is generally 150-400ms depending on conditions such as obstructions between you and tower.

There was a demonstration of EVDO Rev A at CTIA that showed about 80ms latency - best case is spec'd at 50ms.
