Quote:
During a week of testing in Manhattan, the KPC650 beat the Novatel V620's downlink throughput two-thirds of the time, with an average margin of 56 Kbps. It beat our baseline Verizon Wireless PC 5220 card 77 percent of the time, with an average margin of 108 Kbps. Because network conditions greatly affect these tests, it would be unfair to compare these test results with the results from earlier reviews. A better means of comparison is to test each card at the same time and in the same locations, which is what we did.

Yet another reason to only get a one year contract... something better is always going to come out after you buy your unit. I no longer have the "best" EVDO card.

Is there any indication that Sprint will support the Kyocera card?

They currently have the Sierra AirCard 580.

I have heard from reliable sources, they will also have the Novatel V620.

I want my next one to be an internal mini-pc card and it probably will be.

Wouldn't an Internal mini-pc limit you if a new standard is released? I suppose the card could be removed if it conflicted with a newer PC-Card though.

Rev A is supposedly going to be released in 06 and I believe that the next "big thing" for EVDO and hopefully an internal card wil be available by then.

I guess we'll see incremental improvements in the PCMCIA cards and software until then. Actually, I'm really pretty tired of this thing sticking out of my computer. Smile
