FYI, we sold Justin his equipment, us is using a Novatel U720(s) on Sprint (actually, he has 4 of them). They looked at Verizon USB720, but we convinced them, it wouldn't last very long. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

What type of applications were you running?
If you want to go with Sprint, give us a call, you can get a Rev A ExpressCard. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

broadbandreports.com has a posting that a leaked VZW memo is telling employees to STOP using the term "unlimited" and that their marketing literature will be updated in April to eliminate "unlimited."
That's better than them lying as they have been, but it would have been nice if they had backed off the cap. I'd switch to Sprint in a heartbeat, but they don't have EVDO in my area. |

Verizon may have finally succumbed to online media pressure.
Nowhere on this page that describes their service, does it say 'unlimited':
http://b2b.vzw.com/broadband/bbapccard.html
additionally, nowhere in their terms of service does it say 'unlimited':
http://b2b.vzw.com/broadband/bba_terms.html
time to start referring to verizon's offering as the 5GB BroadBandAccess Plan FKA 'unlimited'. |

I've been under the 5GB limit since I signed up with Verizon.
In March, I managed to use 5.5GB of bandwidth.
What was different than usual in March? I downloaded an Ubuntu .iso image, and then a few hundred megs of updates each for the two machines I installed it on.
I also did a clean re-install of Windows XP on another computer, and then had to download hundreds of megs of service packs, updates, and all the other little programs that get a new PC ready to go.
I haven't received a letter yet, but I guess my billing cycle hasn't been over for long. I'll post again if/when I receive my letter.

Hi all -
I know that TOS states that streaming and/or downloading program is illegal, however, does it really matter if you don't go over your 5GB limitation?
Thanks in advance,

If they wanna get tough, then yes, it does matter, but they'd have to start inspecting every data packet to look for the offending ones. Otherwise, you are presumed innocent as long as you stay below the 5GB limit, and presumed guilty if you go above it. |

New question for you then. I'm running a Novatel V20 with the latest version of the Verizon software. 80% of the time it fails in Vista, so I just went to CONNECT TO - NATIONAL ACCESS under the start menu.
By using this method, I've noticed that it does not 'time out' if you don't use it for a period of time. I forgot one day and left it on all day. It never disconnected.
I didn't use much data at all, however, my session was a ton of hours. Does Verizon care too much about this that anyone knows of?

| I don't know if anyone from Verizon is on this forum or not but I just avoided switching 100 or so sprint cards to Verizon just because of their TOS. Sure they have launched EVDO REV A in the area but Sprint is almost done launching it as they are in the testing phase. Our company has a total of around 150 total cards and out of those there are about 5 and the rest being Sprint but my boss didn't like the idea of accounts getting cancelled after 5 GB of usage. Sure not all of our users would hit that mark but I'm sure we would have some as we did have one card cancelled last year for "abusing the service". Maybe someday Verizon will learn that if they make unlimited really unlimited then they would not loose so many customers. So hell with Verizon as we will keep Sprint as it's cheaper and there is no limits. |

| I was curious...how much data do you think you have sent/received in a given month playing WoW? My brother plays, and is trying to get me into it. I use a laptop with a Verizon EVDO card, and I don't want to run the risk of violating the terms of the contract. If I play an hour or so a day, a few days a week (say 20 hours a month), any idea how much data I'll use playing the game? Thanks |

Once Sprint has EVDO Rev A in my area, I'm just going to terminate my service by going over 5 gigs. No termination fee, gets the job done |

It's funny that they say 5GB/month is more than 40x what their average user uses. (By the way, I assume the 5GB is the amount downloaded? Or does that factor in any upload activity too?)
That means that their average user would have to download only 250MB a month, then. That comes to a little over 8mb per day. Put another way, a person with a 600kbps connection would have to use their full bandwidth for only 1min 45secs a day to be an "average user" according to Verizon. |
