I wanted to post this here because it seems many are having the same problem as I've been having.
The combo works well, aside from the fact I get the Blue Screen of Death during usage appx. once every couple hours (rough estimate...I've had it happen three times in 45 minutes before) with the error USB_BUGCODE_DRIVER. From what I've read in these forums, this happens with laptops using the Mobile AMD 64 Athlon CPU regardless of the Data Card being used. Something about how the cards emulate USB and how the processor handles it or some technical jargon like that
Things I've tried:
- System re-install (Windows XP- Home)
- BIOS upgrade (already has the latest)
- Multiple video driver changes (different ones are available for the ATI 200)
- Disabled suspected conflicting devices
- AMD CPU driver update (I got excited about this one, but nothing )
In short, please avoid purchasing a laptop using this CPU if you plan to use a Data Card with it. Hopefully the fix will be found, but until then, I'll just keep having my blood pressure increase dramatically whenever I see that dreaded Blue Screen of Death.
Sidenote: Apple Powerbook G4 and the KPC650 worked great together. Never had a problem in the few weeks I used it before getting my new HP laptop.

It is not just the Athlon. It also doesn't work on my HP w/ a AMD Turion processor (same error). I wish they'd test these crappy EVDO drivers before releasing them to the public.
Just open up a streaming audio session and watch your laptop lock up in a few minutes.... |

You're right, Nightblade. I just responded to a post from someone who also had a Turion. As far as I can see, there isn't a solution yet. I check every day for a BIOS update, but none so far
At least the problem is getting narrowed down. I can't return the laptop and the only reason I bought it was to use EVDO. |

| I wonder if the problem is that it is incompatible with any 64 bit processor? I'm running 32-bit WinXp though.... |

Oops forgot the important instructions.
Make sure you remove the Cardbus card and reboot prior to flashing the BIOS to ensure you don't blue screen during the flash process. |
