All is well ... sorta
Kyocera software gets funky if you dont clear your cache when making changes
Long story short ... I didnt have my WLAN totally turned off (duh)
Check this thread for WLAN reboot conversations :
http://www.evdoforums.com/thread3460.html
3rd day with WLAN turned off and ZERO reboots !!!
Apparently the WLAN interferes with the wireless card and reboots the KR1
Seems to be a defect (not a design issue) so will continue to flog the Kyocera tech support guys. |

This system will be stationary. Prelim testing shows that I get 85%+ signal strength (~500K down/60K up)
From what I understand reading this thread - if my EVDO signal switches over to 1x for some reason (which I have seen happen on my mobile phone periodically), my new KR1 (which I haven't installed yet) will reboot and take out my whole network.
This is not acceptable. What are my options? I can't find any reports of the new Linksys router working with the KPC650. I wish it did - I really like Linksys stuff.
Are there any pure EVDO bridges out there? I've come across lots of roll-your-own and I <could> do that but I'd rather just buy a solution. Ideally something the PCMCIA could plug into which would then feed into the WAN port on one of the several WRT54Gs that I have lying around.
The pyramid-shaped router (can't remember the name) seems to get good reviews but I've never heard of the company, and there's no presence on this board - so it may have similar issues for all I know, just not reported. |
You are referring to the Top Global MB6000 , May have a funny shape but all users have nothing but praise for it |

I drive a truck for a living and have my KR1 mounted on the wall. If I know I am in an area for a long period of time with out the use of a cell signal, and then get a cell signal again. I just un-plug the router for about 5 seconds and plug it back in - in about 15-30 seconds im back online...
But some time the air card I use will flash green and it will not connect for some reason?? Even when my phone says I have a Sprint signal... |

Having the disconnect issues. When I reset everything fine for 10min. or so. Running it with a cat5 on a merlin 620 Sprint. Stationary on a desktop. How do I turn off the wi-fi? (as I am new to this) Will that cure my problem?
Thanks much folks |

| Well now this makes me nervous. I'm eBaying my Linksys WRT54G3G-ST on account of the upload speed bug, and now I see that the KR1 is prone to these reboot problems. I have a Novatel S720 and will be using it in the car with a 7dB mag mount antenna on the roof (router will be in the trunk). Should I be concerned? Cancel the Linksys auction and deal with the upload speed problem? |

I've been using the Linksys for about a week. I had to reboot via browser interface once and I'm not sure the problem wasn't Verizon's DNS servers.
It's a whole lot more stable than my KR1. Funny thing is, I just took the Linksys to the rightful owner and got back and plug my KR1 in and got the best speedtest yet since EVDO got to be a few weeks ago.
With a KR1 - KPC650 - amp - Omni, here was my speedtest a bit ago (I'm kinda in the boonies):
Guess it was feeling the heat. Now, if it will just stay stable. I'm considering very hard on ordering myself the Linksys, I like the stability of it over my KR1. _________________ A simple man. |

| I went ahead and ordered the KR1 from 3GStore. If I have problems, I'll just pack it up and ship it back and come up with my own homebrew solution. That way I've got nobody to complain about but myself! |
