This thread will be used to discuss the Dell Latitude D620 with EVDO and specific issues related to this laptop and how it works with EVDO. Other forums can be used to discuss coverage, service, etc.

For someone that has this, I am most interested to know how well it receives signal compared to a PC Card, AND if there are any external ports for EVDO antennas or signal amplifiers (I am guessing there is not).

If you just got one of these laptops, we can quickly activate your Embedded Verizon EVDO card for you.

Got one. Seems to work fine. Found some flaws in the instructions from Dell/Verizon. Of course the first thing most folks are gonna do is get connected somehow...probably not through EvDO, but some other existing method. If you do this, when you fire up the VPN tunnel on the EvDO side, it won't connect to the Verizon site properly. I contacted Verizon corporate to let them know.

Also, if you have a business account you need to know the TAX ID info for your company to get activated.

Performace seems the same, and pretty good in Lincolnshire, IL.

So Dell doesn't sell it, but it's a standard Mini-PCI slot. My question is where can we get a card that will work w/ the Dell in the Mini-PCI slot, and that Sprint Cust Service can activate?

Does this happen with a PCMCIA card as well? And is this a Verizon-only problem or a generic problem (Verizon, Sprint, etc.)? How did you solve the problem, assuming you did?

I assume (I know that's a bad thing to do;-), that this all applies to a Dell Latitude D820 as well (but using a Pantech PX500 or Merlin S720 on Sprint).

Ok, so Dell has the card now.. My question is, does anyone know if it's Rev A or not?

And I'll answer my own question - it's not. I've played with a few, and they are fast, but there still aren't Rev A.. Where o where is a Mini-PCI Rev A card for a Dell...?!?! Smile
