Woo Hoo..

I just got my Aircard 580 Sprint card two days ago.. and it looks like there's EVDO in the Chicago Loop. I'm at my desk in the 16th floor of an office building in the Loop and gettign 5 bars of sweet EVDO signal. Bandwidthplace.com speed test is 1 megabits per second!

It's got PRL 20212... Now If I can get PRL 20212 on the PPC-6600....

I've heard from Sprint people a month ago that EVDO is now activated in over 60-70 markets but is only officially released in production in about 35 or so cities for certain areas (airports/business districts), probably higher by now. There is a near metro-wide coverage in 60+ markets but not in production state yet. Some sources say that Sprint will have 60 markets by end of year, others say 100 markets. My guess is it will be 60 officially in production and 100 markets will unofficially have EVDO presence.

The attempt seems to be that if you are a Sprint EVDO customer, you could still get an EVDO signal in most major markets even if not officially rolled out.

Anyone know of markets that Sprint is unofficially activated in but Verizon is not? I was in St. Louis a couple months ago and Sprint worked but my Verizon card did not. Verizon is apparently up and running in STL now.
