|
|
I don't have a Mac and I sold my KR1 to a friend who had a higher need, but I was wondering if you force EVDO on Windows in Connection Manager (S620 and 580 cards), would it store that to the card and work on Mac or KR1?
To test, would probably be easer to force to 1xRTT, then plug into Mac or KR1 and see if you are stuck to 1xRTT speeds.
I suspect it is stored in connection manager and would not work but it could be useful if it does work. |

Looks like the Automatic or 1xRTT or EVDO only modes are indeed stored in the Merlin S620 when locking in to 1xRTT or EVDO .
I am in a Sprint Broadband Area. I locked the card on my Sony laptop to 1xRTT. I then did a benchmark and it was 1xRTT speeds. Next, I moved the S620 to the Kyocera KR1 Router and then did a benchmark and sure enough, it was locked in to 1xRTT.
When I inserted the card back in the Sony laptop, the settings were still locked in to 1XRTT.
So, this confirms that the new firmware settings for Automatic/1xRTT/EVDO Lock, are indeed stored in the card. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Good to know.
I've found another way to test and confirmed that the roaming mode also stores in the card. I have two laptops with connection manager. Both were set to EVDO only and Sprint only. Then set one card in laptop to 1xRTT only and Roam only, moved to other laptop and it showed the new settings, meaning the settings moved with the card.
So roaming can be forced on/off on Mac or EVDO/Wifi router as well. But it has to be done with Windows. Next question is... I wonder if there is a way to set via AT modem commands within Zterm on Mac? |
