|

I just recieved the KR1 this week and love what it is providing us. We were on Dial-up. Satellite was too expensive. We didn't get a good 1xrtt or evdo signal where we use our computers. Now that we have a KR1 and KPC650 card with an Arc antenna located in a prime spot we no longer drop our connection and are getting around 400-500 down and 100-120 up.
Now the problem. My laptop wireless card (D-link DWL-G630) is working great. Never drops the connection and maintains a 18 MbPs transfer rate/90% signal. I just purchased a D-link (WDA-1320) wireless G desktop adapter and can not get it to keep the connection. After 2-3 min of web browsing the transfer rate drops to 1 Mbps and I lose my connection. I have called D-link and gone through multiple re-installations and replacement of the card. All to no avail and now D-link is out of suggestions minus sticking it into another desktop (I don't have multiple desktops running).
At one point D-link blamed the KR1, saying it was either a setting or problem with the router. I can't believe this since my other card works fine. They are blaming either my router or desktop. I am thinking of getting a different manufacturers card and trying that. If this is a problem I am going to have, then another manufacturer probably won't help. Any suggestions on what might be my problem and another card that may work better in my desktop?
One last question - how do you check what your RSSI is? When I located my router I tried to find a spot that gave me the most bars and I kept doing a speed test to see what speeds I was getting. Is there a better way?
Thanks for any help. |

| Exchanged for a comparable Netgear adapter (WG311) and am not having any problems so far. Better signal and no drops. |
