Thanks Victor.

This is gonna really blow wide open when "AT&ingular' finish the UMTS/HSDPA roll-out and as more and more notebooks with embedded chipsets hit the market. Only downside is anyone who feels locked-in by a ~$100+ cell phone is REALLY going to feel locked in with a ~$2000 notebook. I can see it now: "Free Lenovo notebook with 15 year commitment". Ugh.

I have answered a few customer calls and posts on these forums regarding dual-service EVDO/Wi-Fi cards, which do not exist.

From the first paragraph of that article you link to: "That's why new PCs that use both very fast cell-phone networks and Wi-Fi are attractive".

Of course he says "PCs that use both"... yet some may take this to mean that the current crop of EVDO wireless data cards *also* do Wi-Fi (like T-Mo's SonyEricsson GC89). Nope.

As well, customers are leaving both Sprint and Verizon stores with a new card only later to find out it only does EVDO. "How do I enable Wi-Fi," they ask. We'll if the chipset/card is not already in your notebook... you don't. :]
