On the Mac it is possible to setup your Mac as a base station. I don't know if this is possible on Windows.
So, my question is, if this is possible with the broadband cards, could I just do this and share my S620 with my Powerbook and Sony instead of buying a KR1 to share the card? |

I do it all the time. Just hook an ethernet wire from the Mac to your PC. On the mac open System Preferences. Select "Sharing", then the "Internet" tab on the Sharing panel. Select the EVDO connection on the "Share your connection from drop-down button", then select "Built-in Ethernet" on the "To computers using:" list. Now press "Start", then confirm this on the warning dialog (this dialog makes it sound like the cops will come and take you away -- ignore it). This setting should stick (for the next time you log in). The Mac is even smart enough to ignore the Sharing feature if you hook a LAN connection to the ethernet port (as a primary connection).
Good luck. |
