Hi all. I figured I better write again to warn consumers about what happens when you deal with Robert Kim. I have found out some interesting things since my last post. Basically, to refresh your memories, he owed us money for returned equipment and refused to refund it. I have since resolved this (without his help) and here is my advice to those considering doing business with Robert Kim. (Sorry if this is too long.)
Do not purchase a wireless card from him. For us, he did not act as a sub-agent for the EVDO card but rather pooled us as a number (one of his) under his account. Verizon was not particularly interested in our complaints and basically told us we could not cancel the card unless Robert Kim did it himself. Basically, Verizon was not authorized to talk to us since it was Robert Kim's account. Effectively, we bought a card we could not control and paid Kim’s company each month (not Verizon).
After talking to numerous individuals at Verizon, we were able to learn that Robert Kim owes Verizon a fairly large sum and is delinquent for all those lines he is "re-selling." Ultimately, Verizon agreed to cancel our card under this account. This was very difficult to accomplish. For the unwary, once he sells you a card and puts it under his name you cannot control it in any way. That is, you will not be able to use the card to get new service with Verizon without Robert Kim freeing it up.
After many months of fighting for our refund for returned equipment (an entirely separate matter) we worked with the credit card company to give us a credit (despite their policy that it be within 60 days). However, we never got the $50 credit he promised by “trading in” our old card for one of his. At this point, we have stopped fighting and will accept a $50 hit. So, another word of caution, do not trade in a card or believe him when he promises a rebate or anything of that nature. You will not get it.
We believe that eventually Verizon is going to cut off all subscribers under "his account" due to non payment by him. One day innocent customers will wake up and their cards won’t work even though they have paid Robert Kim each month.
Long story short. Anybody that signs up for new service with him may get lumped under his account like we did. He charges the customer, yet apparently fails to pay Verizon. Ultimately, the customers are going to get screwed because their cards get locked up by him as the account holder. This may be an out and out scam and not just negligence on his part. At first I just thought he was having financial problems or something – hence no refunds, etc. But now, I wonder if this is not a classic CON. Again, Verizon will eventually find out and cut everybody off until it gets worked out.

Sorry to hear it worked out this way for the users. It also puts a bad taste in mouth for the business model, which I hoped could work. It would be interesting for business users to indirectly sublease from a provider that uses all 3 carriers.
I'd like to see the option to have one contract but switch around between Sprint/Verizon/Cingular cards at will and not have to worry about multiple contracts because the agent takes care of it - only one contract instead of three. We would consider an agent that provided that service, if competently executed. |

Don't Forget Alltel . Keep your eyes on them guys . They have been putting all thier time and effort into acquisitions. They have another big one yet in the works that will put them right up there with the three you mentioned. They are going to a major player as well in The EVDO market before the year is done |

Hello
I joined this forum to find answers to a problem I'm having moving my PCI adaptor from an old machine it works in to a new that it doesn't and tripped over this thread. (I'll post in one of the other threads with adaptor details)
I bought a "turocharged" KPC650 from Mr. Kim late last year and was horrified when I learned the real "secrets" behind the supercharging scam (and let him know how I felt). Anyway, to contribute to this thread, I sent an email to Robert and his assistant asking if they caould help with the PCI card problem (figured, what do I have to lose?). I got a response from Lori indicating she was no long working for the firm and Robert hasn't responded.
So yes, maybe it is good news for those of us not trapped with cards we don't own and accounts that may be cancelled. My sympathies to those that came (shortly?) after me and got caught by the latest scam. |

For those that got scammed by him should find where he lives and beat some sense into him. Just a suggestion. *hint, hint* I, for one hate con artist. _________________ EVDO Addict. |

Would love to know what he is selling for hundreds of dollars above the normal KPC650 price, compared to the free information that is already posted up here on EVDOforums. Feel free to post it here (most likely, it already is in another thread). _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| No matter how I feel about the business, I did accept a non-disclosure agreement when I signed up and I hope my ethics are a little better than theirs. I will say though that there was nothing in the supercharging that I haven't seen recommended elsewhere <<wink >>. |
