|
|
| What cards, if any support the voice capability? I have an AC 580. I do know it does not. Does thte Merlin S620 support voice? It doesnt seem to be something even worth doing. Simply because there is a thing called VOIP. Plus, a cell phone is that much easier. I have only used my laptop and surfed the net while driving once. Wasnt very easy lol. I was actually a rolling AP for my friend. I shared my connection on my wifi card, he picked it up, and we drove along the insterstate for about 10 miles. The further away we would get, the more packets he would lose. It was also funny to IM each other while driving. Needless to say, I will never do that again. |

VoIP works okay over the current ev-do. It should get better with the next version, but tends to drop here and there right now. |

I wouldn't recommend getting an EVDO card specifically to use VOIP - you will not be a happy camper. The latency may not be good enough to have a usuable VOIP call. A lot of factors. I have had pretty good VOIP calls in the past, BUT if I was getting an EVDO card specifically for VOIP, you wouldn't be happy with the overall quality. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| VOIP really wont be usable until Rev A. Its OK now like you said, but really not anything to rely on. I was just wondering about a card that woud support voice. I guess there arent any that do that. They can barely get TXT'ing down lol. |

| I think you're meaning like a cell phone, right? Voice one minute, then data the next? (tethering) EVDO cards are data only. Seems to me Windows users *were* doing this with GSM/GPRS/EDGE wireless cards. I've only used a Sony Ericsson EDGE card on my Mac. |
