I'm trying LDR-B0007.BIX - would this be default?
It's the one their site says to use.

Though in 4-5 tries, it doesn't appear to work. I get a "upgrade sucessful" msg on my browser. But the light stays orange and never changes... until I reboot it with power off to get it back in firmware mode.
I'll keep trying.

Got it done - 0007 didn't work - though 1002 did.

that's all that matters, I wanted it working - because I upgraded my hardware and service and no longer use this router or my wireless card in it. And couldn't sell it unless it works.

Both for sale if anyone interested in KR1 / Kyocera PCMIA card alone or combo.

Thanks for this forum! portranet@sccglobal.net

This thread has been extremely helpful in unbricking my KR1 w/ Verison Card. The step-by-step was easy to follow, and on point in as far as router response and necessary steps. I do however have some additional information that might help in the unbricking process.

First, there is a "Firmware Recovery" .bix file that is available from Kyocera's website @ http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/kr1-router/firmware.htm. Following the steps in this thread and using the 1006 firmware, I simply could not get the router to reboot in working condition. I decided to try the recovery firmware to see if it would help at all. This is what I did:

1) I followed unbricking procedure for the KR1, booted it holding the reset button until the green status light was flashing, not orange.

2) I accessed the recovery page at 192.168.0.1, uploaded the recovery firmware (KR1LDR-B0007.bix), and was alerted "Upgrade Successful" within seconds. In my troubleshooting trying anything and everything to get it to work, I did experience it not loading this quickly or at all, which led to an orange light on the router. IF IT DOES NOT SAY UPGRADE SUCCESSFUL WITHIN SECONDS, TRY AGAIN.

3) After uploading the recovery firmware, I powered off the router, unplugged the network cable, and rebooted it the same as in 1, and accessed the router the same as in 2, but instead now uploaded the v1006 firmware, waited for the lights to go through the appropriate steps, and eventually the status light went off, I also think seems to signify the end of the flash cycle.

4) I reset the IP Address to obtain automatically, rebooted the router with ethernet and PCI Card inserted, and worked just fine. I do believe the phone light was on momentarily and the status light was orange, but quickly flashed, the phone light turned off, and the status went blank, and eventually solid green.

I hope this helps any of the still bricked KR1s. And if anyone has anything to add I missed, please include it for other people to follow!

Good unbricking,
Maharashi.
