Look at the back (bottom image). From the left you can see:
Antenna
Power connector
Reset buttonhole
Phone USB port (green)
Diagnostic Port (covered with black plug)
Four Ethernet Jacks (blue)
PCMCIA slot
Pull out the black plug on the diagnostic port and it will expose a second USB connector, but it is actually an RS232 serial port, it just needs the special cable. |

The phone port is for EVDO phones (e.g. the LG VX8100, but I don't know if that particular one is supported) and would work in "tethered" mode, like accessing EVDO via the phone from a laptop. It probably works now, but I have a PCMCIA card.
The KR1 started as a clone of the DI624S storage router which used Linux to export any mass storage device connected to either of two USB ports via Samba - there is a lot of extra junk still in the rom image for the now nonexistent USB storage and samba function. The Phone port will ONLY support a serial USB device, and apparently will only properly recognize and support the limited number of phones, or needs some special function to make it work that doesn't work for the vanilla USB serial adapters I have tried.
Depending on how far DLink goes with following the GPL (or I or others can reverse engineer their unpublished but derivative modifications), these functions might be reenabled. |

Try http://kr1gps.dyndns.org:8888 as I've added an integrated web server to my version of GPSD. It will be on intermittently now through the weekend. If you have firefox you can use Reload-Every to update it.
Left column is GPS status. Right is google map (using q=, not the API).
Firmware for this version is at:

Yes (gpsd on the KR1 manages port 8888 in addition to the other two). It isn't fully compliant HTTP/HTML, but close enough, and I use an IFRAME pointed at maps.google.com with the lat/lon plugged in.

Is there any port mapping or firewall settings for this to work? Is the web server running on the WAN or LAN? |

No portmapping or firewall, though I think it can disable the port with the firewall, but you would have to explicitly do so.
It operates on the lan/wifi, wan/evdo, and even localhost. It runs on the KR1 just like the admin webserver (which also works remotely in the old firmware or if you enable it in the new version). |

Strange it wasn't working at first. It is now. |

| If people are trying my gpsd firmware, I would appreciate feedback, even if it is only to say it works or doesn't - use the PM function if you don't want to post here. |
