Since Sprint EVDO will be turned on sometime this year, we started a separate forum just for Sprint EVDO users who are starting to get EVDO coverage. Please include number of bars, PC card being used, external antenna used, signal strength, location, etc.
As we hear about Sprint EVDO news, we will also be posting it at EVDOInfo.com at:
Sprint EVDO Coverage, News, Updated Information
Please keep this forum related to discussion about Sprint EVDO coverage. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I ran across some old news from a Sprint affiliate. This brings hope to those of us stuck in the infamous affiliate markets.

I checked coverage on your Sprint maps for Reno and Boise and my area (Central Valley California near Modesto and Stockton) and they don't even show as future EV-DO coverage. This is probably because affiliates are not showing as present or future coverage. This is what I am assuming. |

The Sprint coverage map does seem to indicate current EVDO coverage for Reno (zip 89501) and areas around Sacramento.

So your assumption may be correct if the affiliates try to maintain their market share by keeping their technology up-to-date. |

It's Here!! EVDO HAS ARRIVED IN NORTH DALLAS, TX.! I'm in North Dallas/Richardson TX Area & I'm getting EVDO starting last Thursday (08-11-05). I was getting -103db with 2 bars & today (08-16-05) I'm getting 5 bars & -78db. Speakeasy.com testing shows I'm getting 750k download & upload 110k. Don't know if that's good or bad, but it's a whole lot faster than the last 2-3 yrs the old 1XTT. _________________ Live Life As Nature Intended. |

Sprint's EVDO is unofficially active in many markets, well ahead of the official schedule. It works most everywhere in KC even though not scheduled until Oct. Also works in most parts of St. Louis, also not scheduled until Oct. Ditto for Minneapolis, which I think is scheduled for next month official release.
They are activating towers all over the place but not announcing coverage until an entire market is fully tested as 'production-class'.
We rollout both cards at our company but went this Sprint as a primary partially because they intend to add EVDO to all of their network and will be adding 14K new CDMA sites, using existing Nextel sites. Sprint is already slightly ahead of Verizon in cellsite count. |
