Thanks Maxsig,
Appreciate you taking the time to post updates. Outta the hundreds checking the site, I'm sure the two that refuse to return their units or buy the 100 dollar more top globe aren't an accurate sample. I'd say just stop responding, it will save board space. Was really happy to see the forum had more content, bummed that was just more useless rant.
PLEASE keep posting the updates when they hit ur desk, and if there was a way to skip postings by the people who might just feel better about themselves venting at you, please try to look past it.
For the people saying the card was listed as supported at the beginning, I ask again was the 5740 listed as supported when you bought it by BoosterAntenna, or Kyocera's website? If booster take it up with them. If kyocera take it up with them and return the unit you're so unhappy with. Venting at the guy who's being the most helpful is dumb. Unless it makes you feel better. I'm glad they haven't said screw it, we'll drop support for this one card.
ichurch - Send your invoice for the management lesson to Kyocera. I'm sure they'll handle it correctly.
I've got a pc5740. TopGlobal won't fit well in a pelican case, or costs more than i want to spend. I could build a stompbox but want COTS. So I go with the Kr1 and wait. If there is a way to speed up the technical division of a major company by yelling at one person online, I'm all ears and need to get to other forums. Microsoft has owed me a stable windows for the past decade, and Apple a two button mouse.. |

| I still like the KR1 features, I dont think the Top Global has ports for a wired connection, I also want to hook up to my desktops and don't want to have to buy wireless usb recievers also. Also like the design for travelling. I guess I will wait another month. Nice to know of the other options though. |

I have just bought his device and it says here, that MY pc-5740 is no good with this KR1 thing? I just paid 240.00 plus 20.76 for shipping to have it to me in 2 days, (bought 7/9/06)!!
So if this PC5740 will not work well with the KR1, Will it work with any of these??:
Sprint Sierra Wireless AirCard 580 -
NOVATEL MERLIN S620
And is there any problems with any of these two devices, and the KR1 working together??
_________________________________________________________
This is almost like the scam I had recently on EBAY, "NOT AS DESCRIBED"... It says it works with SPRINT... It should say it works with SPRINT (But not with the PC5740)!!

OK I've been watching this thread for the past few days and perhaps someone can clear this up for me. The booster antenna site clearly says the following when you go to browse for the product:
Do Not Order The KR1 if you need one of the following:
* Using a PC5740 (read why)
* Needing to use VPN (more info)
* Wanted to use with VOIP
* Want to use a PC5220 Card (not supported by Kyocera, but many have had success)
So why in the heck are there so many complaints here about the PC5740?? I have one too and I want the KR1. Until this message above changes, I just won't be purchasing. How much more clear can the seller make this?? Am I missing something here??
I'd say lay off and cool your jets, but if there is something big here that is just not hitting me or I can't see (besides the note to don't buy it unless you have a PC5740), please let me know so I can understand all this frustration and claims comparing this to fraud. |

Mr. donjjones,
You might try reading the whole thread, paying particular attentsion to the dates. Back in the begining (it seems so long ago ), it wasn't as clear that the PC5740 wasn't as un-supported as it is now.
One of the hazards of being an early adopter is you may find a significant bug. That puts you at the mercy of the manufacturer to fix that bug in a timely manor.
larry
PS I believe that you are the first person to use the term You wouldn't be trying to stur things up would you?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I did see the first post with the big red letters but that must have been added later.
By the way, I was referring to the link "www.kd5yov.net/fraud.htm" with my mention of comparing this to fraud.
So no, I'm not trying to stir things up, just wanting to understand. |

I was just getting a point across, there are others out there that have deceptive selling practices. Not including all of the info of the sale and what it will or will not work with..

I want to know what this device will work with on the SPRINT network, so that I can buy the right one so I dont have any problems.. And if it works flaw-less, I would add a link to my LINK page... ((And recomend this to all the BUS companies that buy the junction-box and have them come this way!!))

I just wanted to post that I too have this combination and am frustrated by the delay in a fix.
I waited for the July 7th release eventhough I have no idea if that information was even remotely valid.
I just got off the phone with Kyocera after trying 3 times and getting hung up on once. They offered absolutely no information on when a firmware upgrade would be released, but did conceed that the 5740 was a popular card so there was a high probability they would try to fix it.
I bet if I go buy a different card they will release the fix. Maybe I should do that and save us all the pain.
Please call 1-800-349-4478 option 3 and ask. |

Hello,
Kyocera has released a firmware upgrade RK1006 and it officially fixes the PC5740 issue, and even adds signal strength. We have been running the PC5740 in our Kyocera KR1 for the last 8 hours and never got a disconnect.
For a download link see:
Kyocera KR1 Router Latest Firmware
We are officially removing this as an ISSUE - thank you Kyocera _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| Michael - have you noticed any actual performance gains with the new firmware or just more stability? |

When using the PC5740, I have noticed a huge performance gain, it is now more like the other cards, you get around the same speed compared to when the card is inserted in the PC Slot. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |
