Hi all,

I received my KR1 from Kyocera on 2/7 and have spent quite a bit of time since I got it trying to get it working. I am having a few issues that I hope someone can help with.

#1 EVDO Connection-I have a KPC650 and have absolutely no problems with it in my laptop, always a good signal and good speed, however when I try to use it in the KR1 the connection becomes very unreliable if it will connect at all. I have tried switching between the KR1 and the laptop in the same spot and while the laptop has no issues the KR1 is very spotty at connecting and even less reliable at holding onto the connection if it does it in the first place.

#2 Wi-Fi Connection-The Wi-Fi connection on my KR1 is also not working as I would expect. I have tested with a PocketPC and two laptops and while sitting within a couple feet of the router it is only seen by my computers about 60 percent of the time and when it is seen the signal strength is very low and at a maximum speed of 11mbps.

I have set up a number of Wireless networks and do not think it is a setup issue but I could be wrong. All this is done with the KR1 fresh out of the box. Is it possible that I just got a bad unit? And does anyone have any experience with Kyocera and how they stand behind their products?

Thanks for all your help

I received my KR1 on Friday (2/10). I set it up with minimal option changes, basically only setting up security (WPA) as recommended by Michael and others here on this forum.

Since then, at least 6 times the laptops I have been using have lost internet access. In each case, I go to the KR1 user interface and there is no "obvious" reason why it is not working. In most cases, the status screen shows complete stats for the WAN (i.e. EVDO connection). I have also noted that often times the DHCP client list does not include all of the active clients. (we normally have a desktop direct connected and 2 laptops wireless). Yet, often times machines are connected and working when they are missing on the list. However, the wireless connection seems to go in and out even though the signal seems to be adequate.

I would love to provide as much detail as is needed to help me solve this inconsistency. If anyone could direct me as to what details you need to determine whether or not I am the source of these problems or a experiencing some sort of bug(s) here.

Thanks in advance.

Lee
