I have no idea what you mean by the "5th window".
Are you using the Wizard? What was the last thing you were doing when it failed. Are you doing defaults or something else? |

| Please clarify what you mean by, "fifth window." I'm assuming you mean in the setup wizard. If so, please specify what settings you're trying to apply so that I can look into it. |

| By the fifth window, I mean the wizard only works up to a certain point. that point is the panel "Set Wireles LAN connection". When the next button is clicked the browser says it cannot connect with the server. I have tried several times with several browsers. |

| It failed once again. I have selected no options, rather just used the default settings and clicked on the next button. The router works fine, but I just cannot get the wizard to get past the Set Wireless Lan connection stage. |

| Does the entire router GUI stop responding though the router continues to function normally otherwise? |

Hello--sorry for the late reply. Set wireless lan connection is where the broswer (safari and others) is not able to connect to the http://192.168.0.1/address and then you must reboot the computer and the router to try the setup again. I tried many times and get the same result. This is with a powerbook 167 (dec) and with system 10.4.4.
Hope this helps,
Rob |

| Congratulations guys -- you've just uncovered the first critical bug in the launch software. We'll work on getting that fixed. I'll make a post when updated firmware is available. |

| rob41 stated it better than I; it fails repeatedly at that point. I shall watch for further developments. Thanks. |

Michael asked me to post a little more detail about the problem you guys found. What happens is confined only to the setup wizard which is not required for operation. You can set any and all options in the router GUI without ever using the setup wizard.
That being said, in the wizard, navigating through to the WiFi Security options page and pressing the Back button causes the router GUI to fail. The router continues to function normally after the GUI fails but the unit must be powercycled to recover the GUI. |

| Yes, the router works well; it is only the setup that fails. Since I will probably never use the encryption, it makes little difference. At least it seems that way to me. If I am wrong, I will be glad of any firmware update. Again, Thanks. |

| I'm having the same problem with Apple G4 Powerbook and Tiger. Look forward to and update. Otherwise the router works great! |

There seem to be two versions of "production software"
The upgrade published on the DLink support site does NOT have the wizard bug (I remember it from when I first set it up, and I get past it now).
There are at least two other functional internal changes between my original software and the supposed "release".
I wouldn't suggest upgrading just to fix the wizard, but I would note that some people might have the bug and others not just because of a difference in their firmware version.
With the update, it says:
Current Firmware Version: RK1000
Firmware Date: Fri 6 Jan 2006
I never thought to check the previous version...
/etc/version of the old one says the 16th of something 2006, 11:05:20 while the upgrade says 6th 2006 12:00:00. |
