Due to internal change management procedures, the final software changes its build label to 1000 when approved for production. This accounts for the change you're seeing. The rest of the code is exactly the same between the two.

Then why does the wizard work, and the diagnostic (the serial out the USB) stopped working with BitPim when I applied the upgrade?

They didn't change the numbers but they changed something inside.

I don't know what DLink told you, or what the factory had, but my router has different software after the upgrade, and I have some nonmatching files on my PC, one from each.

I could go into details, because it looks like you may have a QC problem.

This is fixed in the latest RK1002 firmware.
