with the KR1, is there a way to tell what type of connection you currently have? Perhaps via the admin website?
thanks,

| No, not in most EVDO networks. The data air link is the same connection; it's simply a different traffic channel. The card isn't really able to output that information for capture and display. |

I know this isn't exactly on topic but may be related?
Does the 2G Settings admin page (Advanced/WAN (EVDO) have anything to do with forcing the connection to EVDO vs. 1xRT? or is 1xRT a 3G network?
By default "Allow connection to 2G networks" is unchecked.
Excuse my ignorance. |

No, the 2G page will not force a connection to ether 1X or EVDO. While EVDO is 3G, 1x is usually considered 2.5G. That page is for networks outside of North America that offer QNC (14.4k) dialup service on a different dial string. It is totally beyond me as to why someone would try to share a 14.4k connection but the feature is there just the same.
Also, the WAN (EVDO) page on the Basic tab of the router looking much the same. This is for networks such as Alltel in North America or Telstra down in Australia that require a username and password to connect to the EVDO network. These carriers use a SimpleIP implementation whereas Verizon, Sprint, and other carriers in North America and around the world use MobileIP. It's a difference in the way the PPP session is authenticated. |
