FCC certification of EVDO PC card modems indicates that the PC card modem antenna is not allowed to be used within 20 centimeters of another radio. So in order to prevent noncompliance while using the KR1 I must use an external antenna connected to the inserted PC card modem *or* an external Wi-Fi antenna to create this 20cm separation.
If you read Kyocera’s user guide and box they reference the 20cm separation in a very unclear/indirect manner. It almost reads like you’re okay as long as the whole KR1 unit is not within 20cm of another transmitting device.
It seems to me this needs to be written more clearly (unless the vagueness is intentional). Having to use an external antenna is really impractical and, while perhaps not too important for the individual user, it could be very problematic for corporate and government customers |

| So I wonder what the consequences are if <20cm? An arched Tesla coilesque spark? Extra risk of cancer? I often place my phone next to the S620 card. |

So, if this is the case, wouldn't you be in "violation", if you inserted your PC Card in any laptop that also had built-in WiFi, since the WiFi would be the 2nd radio? _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I think the real concern, is for those that are selling more expensive routers and how the KR1 will eat into those units sales. Since you work for a wholesaler that resells Junxion, I understand your concerns _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| Could someone point me in the direction of that particular reg on the FCC site? Also, note that the FCC approved this device along with many other cert agencies around the world. |
