Does it really make any difference if it's up or down? It gets in my way typing if it's up and there is no difference in performance if I put it down.

I had a slow down the second day from a high of 999 down/107 up to 23 down/36 up, yes folks, a horror show.

I called tech and we checked it by the book with no joy until the tech suggested turning off Venturi and giving that a try. That was it, I uninstalled it and haven't had any trouble like it since. I always had trouble with compression software on dialup as well.

I usually stand up the antenna in the stand that comes with it. I will do some testing with it laying down and see if that makes a difference.

Where did you get the antenna from?

I do not use the compression software either, as it only works on Windows and I use my PowerBook a lot with the PC 5220.

Anyone else have any comments about the compression software?

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the booster antenna.

Regarding the built-in antenna on the PC 5220 card, I seem to lose 1 bar when it is down, so it appears that it makes a difference. Most likely, it depends on how close you are to the tower. If it is very close to your location, it may not make a difference.
