|
|
I just moved into my apartment and before I signed the lease I confirmed I had good signal in the apartment.
But now that I moved in the signal strength is doing some strange things. The apartment is in Lewisville right off 35E.
Normally it has about -75dBm but then it will swing quickly to -120dBm. Moving around the apartment hitting refresh in the device info page to see if the signal improves shows moving around does nothing.
Why does it swing like that? I have traveled all over the country using this service and have never seen this before.
Also, it won't let me choose EVDO or only RTT. Its locked out.
Any ideas?

This is normal behavior I’ve experienced this many times and could never explain it till I found this page on how CDMA works, for an explanation on why this happens mostly indoors look at the “in building coverage” section .

Thanks for the link...rather intresting.
What did you do to help it out? External antenna?
Wonder why I can't select between rtt and evdo?

I went to a Sprint store to see what they could tell me . They pulled up a tower map of the area and were able to click on the tower. Doing that showed what type of requests the tower had handled.
Such as ... I can't remember and EVDO.
The I cant remember had tons of hits. I am assuming that is the low speed data or phone calls.
On the towers she checked in the area EVDO didn't have many requests and the average EVDO data rate box was -----.
Maybe the evdo in the area is jacked up?
Anybody else know about this type of tower map?

Doh, turns out I can decide between evdo or rtt.
I just need to disconnect first.

I know the second I post this....its gonna go to pot again.
But anyway, I hooked up a 13" cell phone antenna I bought for my old V120T TDMA phone...and bam...no more wild signal flucuations. It holds between -75dBm - 85-dBm.
Sweet:)
To bad I still can't crack 500:(
