I noticed that the Verizon software sets up some unusual modem settings when I look under control panel. Verizon techs never look a this when I call. They say that if I can connect at all then the setting must be right, which I find circumspect!

Anyone know what the best modem set up is under control panel? Question

My biggest problem is wildly gyrating signal strength while I am sitting still at home. From 3 bars in broadband to dropping to National. Replaced the card once, so I doubt it is hardware. But the PC settings are another question. Dell Latitude D600 with XP Pro.

Keep in mind, that the EVDO PC Card really isn't a "modem", so the configuration strings may look different. These get setup automatically when you install VZAccess and your card. I don't think this is related to your problems (unless you changed them).

Have you used your V620 in other locations that do not have these problems?

You might want to see what your signal strength is in different areas, this URL tells you how to do that.

You may be 'signal challenged' (terrain, siding on house, etc.), which an external antenna or signal amplifier may help. By trying in different locations, that may help answer that.

Also, it is possible that some work is being performed on towers and you are seeing some strange results - so I would try again and see if you get the same results.
