We are now NO LONGER taking orders for the Kyocera KR1 Router.

We will be shipping them on Tuesday 2/7/2006. The price will be $249.99. If you purchase a Kyocera KPC650 (or have already - Verizon or AllTell), you will qualify for a $50 mail-in rebate from Kyocera (Rebate ends 4/1/2006), so your net cost is $199.99 (after rebate).

For those that placed an order for the Kyocera KR1 before Tuesday 11:59pm CST, they will be shipping Wednesday 2/8/2006. Any orders placed after that time will ship on Thursday 2/9/2006. Kyocera was delayed in getting our shipment to us, but they are now here.

You will start getting FedEx shipment notices on Tuesday Evening, HOWEVER, those are for Wednesday shipment.

We have around 40 routers (now 25) that are still "available" from our next shipment, to be shipped Thursday.

The demand is high. Kyocera sold out of their first batch in 36 hours and this is their 2nd batch. Kyocera didn't forecast for the huge demand for the KR1 (although, I tried to tell them), so there will be a shortage for a few weeks. Last week, they ramped up production to the maximum, but it may take a few weeks for those to show up.

FedEx reuses tracking numbers. If you try to track your tracking number at http://www.FedEx.com, it may show an order from 2+ years ago and be incorrect. Once, FedEx picks up the package and scans it, the correct info will show on the FedEx web site.

FYI, we got them and are shipping all orders through Tuesday today. Any order placed today will probably ship tomorrow (Thursday).

UPDATE 2/8/2006 7:30PM CST - We are now sold out, and the KR1 is on Backorder again. They may be out of stock for a few weeks, although, we will get some trickling in here and there.

We will be getting in the next shipment of KR1s by mid next week (anyone that has already ordered will get it shipped around 2/23/06).

We have a bunch on backorder, but as of Monday 2.20.2006 @ 4:15PM CST, those are sold out and any new orders will not be shipped from our next shipment, which is due in around 2/12/2006. After this date, we expect larger quantities to be available, however, the demand for these units is high.

If you ordered before 2.20.2006 @ 4:15PM CST, your order will be part of the shipment. We will send you a tracking number when they ship.

Kyocera has decided to fix some of the reported problems before shipping any new KR1 Routers. Those fixes include the rail problem, where some cards would not fit correctly, the activation wizard bug and other minor issues. Due to these changes, the next batch due this week, have been delayed. We will know more in a few days, BUT, it looks like they will be available the end of next week.

For, those of you that already received a KR1, you will be able to update your Firmware (when available - we will automatically email all those that purchased from us), and if you are having any seating problems with specific cards, Kyocera will soon be announcing a replacement program (to be announced on EVDOforums, when available).

Here is the latest scoop on the KR1 Backorder status.

If your order date was 2/9/06 or before - you now have your router.

If your order date was 2/10/06 or later:

We will be getting a small number of routers in next week to fulfill the orders from 2/10/06 & 2/11/06. We expect those to ship by 3/17/06..

If your order was 2/12/06, we expect to fulfill all of those orders the by the end of the next week or 3/24/06. By the first week in April, we expect enough inventory to have plenty in stock for same day shipping.

Latest status:

All KR1 Orders through Friday 4/29/2006 @ 3:00pm CST, have been shipped. Any after this time, will ship on Tuesday 5/2/2006.

Remember, the Kyocera $50 Mail-in Rebate ends on May 1st and you need to have your rebate form post marked by May 15th.
