This issue began about the time I started using a HP Zbook15, but may be a coincidence... Did not happen with my Lenovo T60 and does not happen now with my ethernet connected PC...

Have 3G PC770 card in a Cradlepoint MBR1000 with strong 3G signal.
System is Zbook 15 running Win7, connected by WiFi to router- strong WiFi signal

Connects fine, works great - some of the time. At some point I loose internet. Firefox and Thunderbird email stop communicating. Connection manager says still connected. I can still get to the router by typing the IP into the browser.

I temporarily fix the connection issue by disconnecting the zbook wifi, then reconnecting. All is fine until it does it again.

Any suggestions on what is wrong / how to fix?

Thanks,
Woody

If you haven't done so already, I would check to see what type of WiFi adapter the computer is using and then see if there are any updates available for it.

Have not specifically checked that. Will do and post back.

Thanks,

I ran into a similar issue with several of my new Apple devices when connecting to a Cradlepoint MBR1400. I believe it may be due to the specific WiFi chipset used by the Cradlepoint routers because I could switch to like an ASUS router and no longer have the issue with the internet connection going dead even though the WiFi was still connected.

Interesting... I like my old MBR1000. hope that is not the problem. Laptop drivers seem up to date and have the results of another test. When on vacation last week I connected through the rental house wifi. No similar issues. Hummm.... It does begin to look like an issue between the Zbook and Cradlepoint Sad Over an entire week I was dropped 2-3 times but that was the connection (no connection) rather than maintaining a connection that would not communicate.

Thanks for any and all comments!

I believe the problem has been resolved !! With the thought of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", I had not upgraded the MBR1000 firmware in a long time (if ever). Well, lately it was "broke" so I decided to go for it and update the MBR. The update must have fixed something that developed a glitch after several years of flawless service. No more does communication cease unexpectedly. No disconnects either (which wasn't the exact issue anyway).
