OK maybe Im mistaken but correct me if im wrong.
Im only getting 50-125kbps when downloading files
This is NOT EVDO speed but 1xRTT

I live about 1-2 miles from the highway (I-35)
Which is the concentration of Sprint EVDO coverage in central texas.
But I have not seen anything higher than dwnloading a file at 125KB/sec.
Evn at work sitting next to the windows approximately 200 yards from the highway ON the second floor

HELP, i used DrTCP it boosted me from
50kbps -80KB/sec to 75-125KB/sec
I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL
But wheres my "like boradband" speeds. Ive never even seen 200 much less the 400-700 I hear about. I would be ok with that I would love to see the 1000-1100 bursts I hear about.
Someone please help me
I live 2 blocks from Pflugerville Highschool am I not in EVDO range ??

Any help is greatly appreciated
please feel free to email me at
tramane@gmail.com Very Happy

I assume you do mean bits and not bytes. If bytes, that's about right for EVDO.

Also try testing AT the highway where coverage is clearly posted. Also go to Device Info and Diag in the Connection Manager. It should show if connecting at 1xRTT or EVDO.

Try latest drivers... sprint.com/downloads

Try testing at http://speedtest.frontiernet.net and post results.

The Merlin card does apparently have a newer chipset. If the Sierra card does not work with EVDO in an area clearly shown to have coverage, Sprint should replace the card. Perhaps request a Merlin card instead.

2006-01-26 22:53:54 EST: 780 / 91
Your download speed : 780 kbps or 97.5 KB/sec.
Your upload speed : 91 kbps or 11.4 KB/sec.

SO this 700-800 is kbps not KB/sec ??
Im thinking people are getting 700 KB/sec
Or am i mistaken

The rates are typically reported in bits, not bytes. Sprint's EVDO does average around 600-700Kbits/sec, which is close to 100KBytes/sec. So you are getting decent performance.

See this thread for performance averages, peaks, etc. It is in bits per second, not bytes.
