i have a mbr1000 that converted itself to a standard dumb switch a few hours ago so i need either to get it repaired or a replacement

is repair an option?

what router would you recommend that still works with the um175vw

i no longer use the load balancing option as i only have the one um175 and can no longer tether my phone

i've been using it with a um175 since 2009 since verizon wont sell me unlimited 4g and i see that melinicom is no longer offering their 30Gb plan i don't see anything changing any time soon

Maybe try the Cradlepoint MBR95? I am still using our MBR1000 and it is mostly been working fine. Don't know what kind of repair you might be able to get done since it is a legacy product through Cradlepoint.

I still have a 1000 talking to AT&T for my wife and I use VZW (we both work from home). I eventually replaced my 95 with a 1200B, the 95 was flaky. 1200B has been great. Not cheap though.

I feel the MBR1200B is most comparable to the MBR1000 in terms of features, WAN/LAN ports, and WiFi range. However, if you're no longer needing multiple WAN ports or any of the advanced features (such as VPN, load balancing), the MBR95 would be an appropriate choice.

I went from the MBR1000 to the Pepwave Surf SOHO mostly for the usage analysis features. The pepwave has certain nice features, the Cradlepoint had other features such as signal strength that is missed...

i called cradlepoint today they told me they do not repair legacy equipment such as the mbr1000 I would have thought they would do out of warranty repair

while i like the option of having a guest ssid and i like the option of vpn support what worries me is the lack of antennas on the mbr 1200b and mbr95 the mbr1000 has had good range with its 3 antennas i looked at the pepwave surf soho and i see that the antennas are optional but you can get them

i have a hard time beliving anything without an antenna on it can have good range and that is a requirement...i suppose i could just plunk down one of the tomato routers ive got laying around for extra range but i am just not sure the ctr500 im running everything through right now can handle the load its not very big has only one port and has poor wifi range and it gets kind of hot while running not quite as hot as a mifi but neither the ctr500 or the mifi's seem to have vents

the mbr1000 was connected to a remote powerswitch (the one that works on the iphone) at the time and i am not completly sure it didn't have anything to do with it i know the recomended time used to be unplug the router for 1 minute but the new model has a very short cycle time of somewhere under 10 seconds and does not appear to have a way to change it

think ill go back to the old ipswitch for whatever i replace it with

I have a mbr1000 you may have free if you will cover the cost of shipping. It is used, but I have the original box, instructions and power cord. I recently switched to a Verizon jetpack thru Millinicom and 3G Store because I travel between two homes (snowbird). If you are interested reply back on this forum and then we can connect thru email.
