PostPosted: Wed May 01, 2013 7:10 am    Post subject: Antenna for use with Sleek 4G...

I'm wanting to boost a 4G signal for use with a US Cellular (ZTE Unite) hotspot.

I'm thinking a Wilson Sleek 4G-A might do the trick, but I'm in a fringe area.

I have a Wilson SignalBoost DT Amp w/Antenna - 801247 which works well for use with Verizon 3G.

My understanding is that antennas are 3G/4G 'generic' and that I should be able to use the SignalBoost (directional 'receiving') antenna (only) with the Sleek.

Is this correct?

Thanks for the help.

Peter B.

You want to get Wilson Sleek 4G Universal Signal Booster - 813426 [700V/700A/800/1900/1700/2100mhz]

http://3gstore.com/product/4025_wilson_sleek_4g-universal_amplifier-813426.html

The 3G/4G are 'generic' and you should be able to use it. If your going to use it with the sleek remember you will also need part#

Yes, you can use that antenna with the wilson sleek 4g-A. However, you will need two connectors since the connection on the cable is f and the connection on the sleek is sma.
Here is a link to the connectors: http://3gstore.com/cart/4211

Just to be sure…

I'm now using a standard RG6 cable (with a male end) to my amp… which would mean I'd need (???) which adaptor for the Sleek?

And this cable for charging a phone or hotspot -

- can only be used with the Sleek 4G-A… but NOT the universal Sleek 4G (as dario suggests)?

(I'm uncertain whether to get the 4G-A or universal model. I believe I could use either one with US Cellular 4G LTE.)

Thanks Again.

The cable the kit comes with is rg6 and ends in f/male. So you will need those two adapters in order for it to plug into the sleek. Both sleeks will work for US Cellular 4g LTE. That cable is NOT compatible with the Wilson Sleek 4G Universal (4G-U) - that model features a full-size USB port for charging your phone or hotspot (i.e. you can simply use the USB charging cable that came with your device).
It is only compatible with Wilson Sleek, Sleek 4G-V, Sleek 4G-A, or Sleek 4G-C to charge/power a phone that has a mini USB connection while it's in the Sleek.

Okay… thanks… I think I've got it.

Unfortunately, the extra equipment costs about as much as I'd save with a US Cellular contract (over Verizon), while losing a GB of allowed data… and of course, the Verizon speed has mostly 'recovered' now… and when it stays over 1 Mb/s, it's acceptable.

I've got til Monday to decide.

Thanks Again.

Peter: Does the US Cellular hotspot have an antenna port? If so, a directly connected antenna alone will probably provide you equivalent or better speeds than the Sleek, and it will be much cheaper.

dmc:

It's worth double checking, but I see no port on the hotspot and have found nothing in the user manuals available.

Thanks...

The AT&T Unite has an antenna port: http://3gstore.com/device/468_att_sierra_wireless_unite.html

Does the US Cellular one look the same?

Vanessa:

Looks like an entirely different unit, I'm afraid.

Only mini USB and reset ports.

The AT&T Unite is made by Sierra. The USC Unite, by ZTE.

Thanks.
